7th Annual Aunty Joy Memorial Therapeutic Surf Day
Join S4SN for a therapeutic day at the beach. We will share the powerful connection between our ocean, water, and wellness.

Aunty Joy’s 7th Annual Memorial Therapeutic Surf Day
We’re honored to announce the hana hou of a beloved tradition — the 7th Annual Aunty Joy Memorial Therapeutic Surfing Day, returning to Kahaluʻu Beach Park on Saturday, November 15th, 2025
This free event celebrates Aunty Joy’s legacy of aloha, healing, and inclusion through the ocean. It is designed specifically for participants with special needs as part of the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) community. Families of all abilities within this community are invited to join us for a day of therapeutic surfing, connection, and joy — where every wave carries her spirit forward.
Participant Registration is Now Open- Register Today!
To ensure a safe and supportive experience, registration is limited to individuals with special needs. Each participant will receive personalized surf support, safety guidance, and a warm welcome from our incredible volunteer ʻohana.

Surf Day is an annual FREE community outreach event that enables people with disabilities to access the beach and surf safely. It’s made possible by amazing professional volunteers from the community, including watermen and women from Hawaii County Ocean Safety, Professional Surf Instructors, the Hawaii County Fire Department, Volunteers from the Department of Education, Small Business Community Leaders, and various non-profits.

Dine with aloha this October!
Luana Hospitality Group has selected Surf for Special Needs as the Aloha Pass It On Charity of the Month—and you can help make waves of impact with every meal!
At each of Luana’s four restaurants, $1 from every designated menu item and special beverage will be donated to support inclusive surf experiences, ocean safety education, and joyful beach days for our special needs community.

CANNED FOOD DRIVE
YES WE CAN
S4SN was founded on Aloha and we want to keep the circle of aloha going.
We are asking each person who joins us for our always free events to please bring a canned food down with you as a donation/contribution to support: The Food Basket of Hawaii Island.
Our events could not be possible without the support and generosity from our Big Island community and we know that The Food Basket-Hawaii Island Food Bank, relies on the same giving spirit to continue on and we want to support them and keep aloha spirit going.
